In 2009, he was the recipient of the Majic 100 Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence.
Prior to coming to Notre Dame, he completed a degree in Orchestral Performance at Wilfrid Laurier University, and upon completion of his studies he accepted a position as a professional musician with the Canadian Armed Forces.
Tony is still active as a freelance professional musician, performing on clarinet, saxophones, piano, and vocals. Currently, he is clarinettist with "The Rideau Lakes Chamber Orchestra", saxophonist and keyboard player with "The Ric Denis & 3" and clarinettist with "The Somerset Combo". Recent performances have included the Stewart Park Festival, and the Blue Skies Festival. The most recent "Ric Denis & 3" EP is available for sale on iTunes and Amazon.
Most importantly, Tony is married to Cynthia, and they have three boys: Matt, Austin, and John. Oh, one final thing....his students think his jokes are awesome (well maybe not awesome....).
